Local Austinite & custom furniture designer Rowen Van Ingen is a dream to work with. She has effortlessly-cool style & a personality to match! We loved featuring her in our Spring 2014 look book & wanted to know some of her favorite things. 

Music - I've been filling my ears with Noah Gundersen as of late. I find myself humming "Cigarettes" and "Isaiah" all day long. I was able to snag a ticket to his upcoming show in Austin and have been daydreaming about it ever since.

Food - Tacos. If I could only eat tacos for the rest of my life, I would be as happy as a clam.

Travel - Landscapes of chilly air, grey clouds and pebbled coastlines make my heart skip a beat. Stateside, I've dreamt of a long drive throughout the Pacific Northwest, and overseas, Ireland has always held my thoughts captive. If the winter season outlasts the summer season, let's go. 

Drink - I can always be found holding a cup of coffee mixed with more than a hint of cream, freshly-juiced carrots and clementines are a Saturday morning tradition, and as for evenings with dear pals - gin and ginger is my cocktail of choice.

Designer/Artist - I am inspired by Finn Juhl and the way in which he carefully curated forms that were at once straightforward, yet full of character. I am inspired by Hans Wegner and his curiosity, respect and affinity for natural, understated materials. I am inspired by Ernst Haeckel and how he exposed the deep-rooted connection between art and science. 

Book - John Steinbeck's East of Eden - my tattered copy is filled with dog-eared pages and pencil scribbles from late evenings when I was unable to set it down.  

Local Austin Spot - My favorite natural Austin spot is Town Lake for its rowing, jogging and picnicking possibilities. My favorite brick and mortar Austin spot is Contigo for its flavorful bites and sips, wonderfully-smelling hand soap and communal aesthetic.
