We are one year old.
September 26 marked our one year anniversary!
And what a crazy year it's been.
Slumlove was born out of a desire to see my friends in Kenya be able to provide for themselves and their families. It was created to help make a difference in a slum in Kenya. It was created so that you (yes, YOU), could be a part of changing people's lives.
Reflecting back on this year, I couldn't be more grateful. Through your purchases, Clare (our sweater-maker) was able to open her own knitting shop. She is making school uniforms for children all over Kenya and can now provide a better life for her 5 year old daughter. Through your purchases, we've been able to donate over $1,500 to education in the slum, giving students who may have never had the chance to go to high school, an opportunity to have a future.
And you better believe we aren't done yet.
Now, officially in our second year, we are continuing to push forward. We've introduced two new products this Fall, with more on the way later this month! We want to give you more ways to be a part of changing people's lives. We want to inspire you to chase your dreams, live your life to the fullest, and help make the world a better place.
All this to say, THANK YOU. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support of Slumlove means the world to me.
I hope you'll stick around as we continue this thing. I know there's still more to be done in Kibera. There's more mothers & fathers who need jobs, and more children who need an education. Let's make this next year even better than the first.
