The Slumlove Blog
Baking the perfect chocolate chip cookie is a science, and everyone has their own opinion as to what a "perfect" cookie is. For us at Slumlove, it's all about thick, soft cookies loaded with chocolate chips. We've poured over recipe books + blogs seeking inspiration + advice for our dream cookie. We think Santa will be pleased with what he leave him this year.
14 tablespoons unsalted, softened (not melted) butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour (add a tablespoon or two more for extra thick cookies)
1 teaspoon fresh baking soda
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
Combine softened butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl. Mix until fluffy. Add eggs + vanilla and continue to mix until well combined. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until everything is combined, and add chocolate chips. Mix until combined, but don't over mix. Bake at 350 degrees until cookies are golden brown on top!
Merry Christmas, y'all!
For our newest Slumlove Spotlight, we met up with writer, speaker, blogger, and all-around rockstar Jamie Ivey! Jamie is as real as it gets, and her passion for engaging women in open conversations about life's important issues is inspiring. Between posting on her blog, facilitating discussions on her podcast, and traveling the country speaking, Jamie openly shares her experiences + wisdom with the hope of helping women everywhere.
Here at Slumlove, we love getting to connect with people who are using their talents to help others and catalyze change in our world. Jamie perfectly represents Slumlove's mission to bring authenticity, transparency, and honesty into the everyday.
And we also think she looks pretty great in our Grey Cardigan.
If you ask me, the presentation of a gift is almost as important as the gift itself. Now I know not everyone shares in my love of gift packaging, but taking a few minutes & putting a little extra care into your wrapping can go a long way. Here's Slumlove's Guide to Wrapping Your Sweater!
Keep it simple + don't stress about making it perfect. A few personal touches is all it takes to take your gift to a whole new level.
Our most recent Slumlove Spotlight combined the talents of several small business owners who hustle + bustle in Austin. We teamed up with M. Walter Designs, Cathy Cake, + FRVRLND to create a dreamy holiday set shot by the lovely Katie Jameson. We were honored to have the owners of these wonderful companies dress up in a Slumlove sweater and sit down with us to toast this Christmas season!
Today we launch our newest product, the Grey Cardigan! Available in both men's + women's sizes, this sweater perfectly blends both style + comfort. And like all of our products, this cardigan provides jobs + resources for people living in one of the world's largest slums.
One of the pillars of Slumlove's mission is to help cultivate community. We are striving to create a company that puts great emphasis on the importance of building relationships & working together to help change the world. And there's no holiday that encompasses this idea better than Thanksgiving. Here's our guide to an easy + effortless Thanksgiving set-up.
Keep your set-up & decoration simple + uncomplicated. Remember, it's not about what's on the table, but the people who are around it.
